One fat, geeky feminist crafters blog of random crap.
Apologies for the variable picture quality.  I took some pictures last night when I finished the piece and some today, and since I’m not the most skilled photographer there were only a few pictures from each set that were any good at all.

And it’s finished!  My diary entry for week ending 7th April 2012, and my TAST entry for weeks 15 and 3.  This piece of course includes stem stitch and feather stitch, to cover those TAST weeks.  It also includes running stitch, back stitch, french knots and satin stitch.

I kept the piece relatively simple, this time.  No bulging 3D sections or shisha, no beads and no felt.  I wanted a simple one because I wasn’t confident at the TAST week 15 stitch and wanted to concentrate more time and effort on getting the hang of it.

I played around with the stitch on a mini-hoop and some scrap fabric, and after several false starts finally looked up a youtube video.  Turns out I’ve been completely misunderstanding the stitch all this time!  It’s much easier now, and I used it for the mop head, swirly sweepings, mini-me hair and outline of the eggs.  The feather stitch is one I was already familiar with, if not particularly skilled at, and I used it to create a decorative outline for a speech bubble.

I already have the image planned out for the next one, so now I’m just waiting to find out what TAST week 16 will be!
