I’ve started a new fortress on version 34.04, got some stuff planned. I keep thinking of planning a fortress around a caste system, to make best use of the burrows. The idea is that professions which can be restricted to certain areas - such as farming or making crafts - will be set up in zones with workshops, stockpiles, bedrooms/dorms, food and a meeting area, and dwarves assigned to...

In which I get my Feminist Bitch hat on.
I’ve been thinking about abortion, and the threats to it as a legal right in some countries at the moment, and the notion of “personhood”. I’ve considered that the notion of personhood doesn’t change the fact that abortion must be legal.
A caveat: I don’t know the legal blather and can’t say whether my brain splurge actually would result in anything...

As it turns out, you can’t freeze white or red cabbage raw. Well, I mean you can, but instead of pulling out a portion of each, defrosting them and shredding them for delicious crunchy stir-fry, I pulled out a portion of each, defrosted them, cursed the Gods that transformed the delicious into slimey, gooey yuck and tossed them in the bin.

So things are going pretty excitingly at my fortress, right now. I tried to embark somewhere without a volcano for a change, expecting to trade for a decent amount of armour and weapons while my population was low, and planning to breach the magma sea allowing for magma forges before my population reached 80 dwarves.
That didn’t quite go as planned.
I reached 80 dwarves before the end...
