I’m really pleased PinTangle decided to have a break week.  It gives me a chance to catch up.  This week I plan to complete weeks 12 and 1 in the same piece - alternating barred chain and fly stitch.  These are both new stitches to me, but they are simple, so instead of a sampler I’m going to make a decorative piece like with some of the other stuff I’ve been making, that I can...

Just be honest for now: So I got my new binder →
squidowlrobot: bedabug: therealjazzbertie: megannicoline: This is me in my usual bra, note the 34D/32DD boobs. And here is the binder, almost completely flat. This thing is awesome. It is remarkably comfortable, too. Feels a bit like wearing a sports bra. I got it… Holy Crap!  Think that’d work for an h-cup?

Does anyone know why my posts are distorting my photos?  They look fine in the dashboard, but for some reason they are all distorted and stretched out on my homepage.

Just for a change, some knitting.
Oh and I made a bag! It’s getting to that time of year when the greengrocers start selling loads of really nice produce.  I decided I wanted something to help me cut down on the number of plastic bags I end up with, which will also safely hold soft fruits without bruising them.  Enter the Salamanca Market Bag I’m often amazed at the quality of patterns people will offer for free...

And eeeeeeven more embroidery!
Finally, my current project.  I treated myself to the hand-stitch versions of the new Nordic Majesty set over at Urban Threads.  I love the designs they’ve made, and I wanted to try my hand at the one with the ravens, in particular. It’s slow going, especially since I ran out of the purple and need to get more!  But it’s getting there. Since my stitching isn’t...

Even More Embroidery
I’m really pleased with how this one came out.  Shisha embroidery (the technique for fixing mirrors to embroidered work) is a favourite of mine - really satisfying, easy and gives great results.  This has a nice Spring Equinox/Ostara vibe to it.  Another one I think might make a nice centre-piece for a cushion cover. Again, it’s not perfect.  My stitching isn’t that neat...

More embroidery projects
Next up is a messy little scene I played around with.  I like making little messes to try and find ways to use different stitches.  This pieces uses a whole load of different techniques to add texture. I am starting to think I might be terrible at using my camera, though.  Those tiny, grey french knots in the sky?  Are actually a pale pink.  I wanted the tree to look like it was shedding...

Some embroidery projects
I’ve been working on making a whole bunch of little embroidered pieces.  They’re all totally different.  Some are samplers, some are little scenes, and some are project pieces.  I’m hoping to incorporate them into different things - some I want to make into pillows, others I’ll stitch onto clothes I make, and some I’ll just work into a fabric frame.  Here’s some...

iamabutchsolo: When POC characters are turned white: this isin’t about race, if you think it is then you’re the racist one, lets just enjoy the book/film as it is, this is about the character’s personality god you’re so sensitive, the new skin tone actually fits the character’s personality IMO, I never imagined them as POC anyway, not all whitewashing is racist god...

A note on the murder of Trayvon Martin… →
There are loads of people speaking out about this situation, but this post in particular really grabbed me.  Please read and share.

Fuck. Fuck the Tories and fuck the spineless Lib Dems.  Fuck David Fucking Cameron and Andrew Lansley (tosser).  Fuck Nick Clegg and fuck the measley, mumbling ineffectual Labour opposition that has done nothing to provide a solid side against this shit. RIP NHS. I don’t have the space to be coherent, now.  Fuck the lot of them.  Why the fuck did I even bother voting?

Something has happened in my fortress. I had four known vampires - three safely burrowed away in the vampire pit and a fourth still incapacitated in the hospital following his beating, received for draining a dwarf in full view of several others. And then my Captain of the Guard was drained in his room when I wasn’t looking.  No witnesses. Given the risk of tantrum spiral if the latest...

It’s official.  Pickled carrot sticks are apparently edible crack.  Not only do they look very pretty stacked in jars alongside my red onion chutney, pickled sugarsnap peas and preserved lemons, but the combination of vinegar and dill and the carroty crunch is far too addictive. I may need to purchase another kilo of carrots soon.

And another important story that needs to get out. A white American shoots a 17 year old, unarmed black boy in cold blood and the police not only fail to arrest him but lie to the victim’s family, “correct” witnesses when their statements don’t match up to the shooter’s “self defence” claim and publicly defend the man they are supposed to remain neutral...

Bloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooody Hell. The current version of DF is seriously kicking my arse.  I’ve had my fortress taken down half a dozen times , discovered that reclaiming is a LOT harder and finally had to give up and gen a new version of the same world to try and retake the spot from scratch. Hopefully this will go better.  I built a wall around my caravan on embark, to...

I’ve notices a pattern with the recent assaults on women, LGBTQ people and people of colour in American politics. These attacks are almost all stemming from an evangelical religious source.  And whenever discussion of this occurs in forums, on Tumblr, on blogs, inevitably a progressive or at least not totally regressive Christian steps up to protest that “we’re not all like...

We here at The Mary Sue hope you will take this video and make it your weekend anthem. These sx ladies are known as the Buranovskiye Babushki (translation: the Buranovo Grannies). They were the winners of the Russian National final and are on to represent their country in the competition this year in May. Ye gods, the young gay Catholic kid on 10-o-clock Live for the gay marriage debate.  I’m 100% pro gay marriage but I spent the whole debate just wanting to drag the poor kid away from the audience and give him a hug and tell him he’s okay as he is.  His entire side of the debate was about him basically stating that he hates himself because his being gay conflicts with his faith. Milo...

I don’t even know what to say any more, I really don’t.  Between personhood amendments, forced ultrasounds and threats to contraception, the news from the other side of the pond has been incredibly scary. And now THIS. It’s called a “wrongful birth” bill and it’s all about preventing women from having an abortion, even if it kills them. The Arizona Senate passed a bill this week...
